MARBLE CARVING
Tenure track position to be announced. Currently taught by Charis Koutsouris (external associate).
Marble Carving is the most important course at the School and requires 16 teaching hours per week. In the Marble Carving course, students are taught how to carve marble, the tools, structure, and techniques involved, how to transfer a model made of plaster or other materials onto marble, the technique of Byzantine relief, and more. The ancient and traditional techniques are of crucial importance in teaching Marble Craftsmanship. Practical exercises in marble processing are included.





ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTING
Instructor: Maria Vidali, external associate
The Architectural Drafting course requires 3 teaching hours per week and is mandatory. Students are taught Linear drawing and Survey, delving into concepts such as scale, geometry, line drawing, construction, space, etc.




SCULPTURE
Instructor: Leonidas Chalepas
The Sculpture course, in combination with the Painting course, requires 9 teaching hours per week and is mandatory. In the Sculpture course, students learn to work with clay and plaster, creating busts, figures and reliefs, from compositions of objects, space, models/plaster molds, and from life. Central concepts include volume, shape, space, and structure.




PAINTING
Instructor: Konstantinos Ntaoulas
The Painting course, in combination with the Sculpture course, requires 9 teaching hours per week and is mandatory. In the Painting course, students learn drawing and color from plaster models, compositions of objects, still life, landscapes, and from life. Central concepts include shape, color, and tone.





ART HISTORY
Instructor: Efthymios Lazongas
The Art History course requires 4 teaching hours per week and is mandatory. Students are taught the history of art from prehistory to the present day. Special emphasis is placed on the art of Greece. Written assignments are also included.
DIPLOMA THESIS
At the end of the 3rd year of studies, graduating students present a Diploma Thesis, which is mandatory and has an artistic-creative character. It includes works of Sculpture, Painting/Drawing.
