The Preparatory and Professional School of Fine Arts of Panormos Tinos is a public School, and it is supervised by the Directorate of Artistic education of the Ministry of Culture (Greek: Π.Δ4/2018: Άρθρο 54, παρ.3, γ, δδ). The studies at the School are a 3-year program (6 semesters). The School accepts students who are at least middle-school graduates, through entrance examinations.
The courses offered are:
- Marble Carving: Tenure track position to be announced. Currently taught by Charis Koutsouris (external associate).
- Sculpture (Leonidas Chalepas)
- Painting (and drawing) (Konstantinos Ntaoulas)
- Art History (Efthymios Lazongas)
- Architectural Drafting (Maria Vidali, external associate)
In the 3rd year of study, students are required to submit a diploma thesis focusing on painting/sculpture.
The weekly schedule includes 32 hours of teaching, distributed across the courses. Specifically:
- Marble Carving: 16 hours
- Architectural Drafting: 3 hours
- Sculpture or Painting (drawing or color): 9 hours, interspersed – two weeks each course
- Art History: 4 hours
Attendance in all courses is mandatory due to their studio based nature and the specificity of the material being taught. The materials used in the workshops are provided free of charge, as well as meals (lunch and dinner) on the five days of the week when the School operates (Monday through Friday), excluding holidays. Free accommodation is not provided, and students are responsible for finding housing in rented apartments in the town of Pyrgos or in nearby settlements (Panormos, Platia, Venardados, Ysternia, Marlas). In collaboration with the Panormos Local Municipality and the Municipality of Tinos, the School offers a guesthouse for 2 students, where they can stay rent-free from October to June of the academic year, after an application and selection process.
The top two students by grade in the 3rd and final year are admitted without exams to the Athens School of Fine Arts or to the Department of Fine and Applied Arts at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
