The school is located in Pyrgos, Tinos. Pyrgos is the center of marble craftsmanship in Tinos and in of all Greece. The school is housed in the former girls’ primary school’s building (which was built in 1834) and its adjacent buildings and areas, as well as in other areas within Pyrgos, where the marble carving workshop and the students’ dining areas are located.
Currently, there is an ongoing project to expand the school’s facilities, restore the existing buildings, and procure new technical equipment. The project is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund, with the Ministry of Culture being the funding and implementing body.
The preliminary designs of the new facilities and the restoration of the older preserved buildings were made with a donation from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. The study was conducted by the architectural firm Thymios Papayannis and Associates S.A.
Upon completion of the project, the school will have expanded workshops aimed at training new marble carvers. These buildings will have the capacity and equipment to process large marble blocks both indoors and outdoors. Additionally, there will be
workshops that will equip students with further knowledge related to their field, such as sculpture, painting, architectural drafting, casting, woodshop, metalshop, foundry, art history, and other spaces such as a library, administration offices, etc.
